OECD – Conference on policy responses to new forms of work – Nov 7, 2018
With the emergence of the platform economy, changes in business models, as well as policy changes at the national level, the diversity of employment contracts and relationships keeps increasing. Such diversity is to be welcomed because it increases flexibility for both workers and employers. However, there are also risks that workers’ rights and protections are undermined, and that some firms gain a competitive advantage simply because they evade their dues and responsibilities. On 7 November 2018, the OECD will bring together policy makers, employers, unions and experts to discuss some of the key policy challenges and solutions in the areas of labour market regulation, social protection, skills and social dialogue, with a view to maximising the benefits, and minimising the risks, associated with the emergence of new forms of work.
